Last week I was visiting Knoxville, TN and Charleston, WV. I really enjoyed the scenic drive. I'm always amazed at how beautiful West Virginia is, always. When you come up from the south on I77 and drive through the East River tunnel and then, WHAM!!!! WV makes you forget about the beauty you thought you saw in Virginia. When there's snow, there's always twice as much in WV then VA, and it just looks better on the trees. Seriously, a blanket of snow on the leafless trees that cover the rolling hills is amazing, and its not even the best time to visit if you want beauty. Which reminds me, whenever you see photos of fall foliage throughout the US, they almost never show anything from WV...are you kidding me. Yeah the New England region has some great colors, but WV has got those colors, plus an already beautiful landscape of rolling Appalachian hills. C'mon, its West Virginia, almost heaven, what beats that. John Denver wrote a song about it, only Colorado is on the same playing field, but John Denver never wrote anything about it being like heaven...although I have seen it raining fire in the sky over Denver and that is picturesque. Well, here's a picture of a rainbow after the weather cleared up while I was driving.
